1. SPEED

Several studies indicate, that you have only 10 to 30 seconds to capture visitor's attention. If your site is slow to open, your customer will likely lose patience and close the window. And that means bye.. bye..to your site! Worse..no sale.

Solution: Avoid having too much animation in your site. Compress the image files and host your site with a good hosting company.


2. Website Design

Remember you have only 10 to 30 seconds to capture visitor's attention. So website design is very important. Most people judge something on their first look! When visitors come to your site, they will see the reflection of YOU. Be certain they will like what they see.

Make your site comfortable to look at. Be consistent with the feel and design. Don't use bright colors that jolt the eye and senses. Use a text that is easy to read. Car Lovers will enjoy visiting your site, because you give them exciting information about a topic they are personally interested in.

When you have laser focus, and great contents, this will create happy customers coming back to your site again and again. This makes it possible for you to repeatedly offer them new sales items to purchase from your site!

Don't clutter your site with too many unrelated products. When you have more than one or two unrelated products, make a unique page for each instead of putting them all on the same page. I know this may sound terribly confusing but it is one of the most crucial things needed to build a better more successful website.

5. Simple Navigation

Make your site navigation easy. If the customers find it hard navigating your site to find what they want, they will go elsewhere. So, limit the choices, and make the sales process uncomplicated.

6. Make Payment Easy

If you sell a product, offer your customer a variety of payment methods. If your site does not offer a credit card, you are hurting your business...get one right now. You can set up a merchant account such as ClickBank, or use one of the many credit card clearing companies. Take checks online. Provide an address for those who prefer to pay by cash, check, or money order. and provide them with a guarantee.

Make the payment process obvious, easy to access and intuitive to use.

7. Credibility Is Vital

Your professional website design will not sell, if the customers don't trust you! So, provide legitimate contact information online. Your email address, mailing address, phone number and a fax number, if applicable. If you are reluctant to give this information to your customers, why should they trust, or buy from you?

Having your own domain name is also very vital for your credibilty. It will make you look more professional. Choose a domain name that easy to remember and suitable for your business.

Putting testimonials from happy customers is one of the best way to improve your credibilty. When the customer can read what other people say about your service, they will be more inclined to trust you!

Applying the seven secrets above probably will not make your site become as famous as Amazon or Yahoo overnight! But..If they are applied correctly and included into an overall website design and marketing campaign, you will see great improvement to your site's traffic and sales!

Anyone that owns a website knows that backlinking is one of the easiest and quickest ways to get traffic to your site and its another very important part in the SEO equation. Basically its a link "back" to one of your sites or pages. Its a very simple and easy project to accomplish. It also plays a large part in PR (page rank). Backlinking can be done in several ways but I'm going to list one of the easiest ways in my opinion. This is done by going to a blog or a website with a "comment" area. And with in the comment area there are usually 4 sub-areas. Those areas are Name, Email address (which is usually never published), Website URL, and Comment. The most important area here is the comment and URL options. In the URL option you would put the name of the site you would like to ultimately "promote". And in the comment section it would be ideal for you to put in a little comment reply about the persons blog post. By posting a comment thats relevant to whatever the author is talking about you show a certain interest, and for the other people visiting that certain post, you will also peak their interest. So traffic so far is coming from two directions, author of the post, and visitors of the post. The other way you get traffic by leaving backlinks is when a search engine picks up on it and indexes it on its search engine.

I know this sounds like a lot of work, and it can be time consuming but the outcome will be well worth your time and energy. This piece of software is considered freeware (absolutely %100 FREE), and its very efficient in what it is supposed to do. If I had to do a quick review I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. The software can be found online, search for Real Link Finder. Theres only two things you really need to do to get this started. First off you have to download it, its a pretty small piece of software so it wont take that long to download it. Secondly you will sign up to receive a free key, this will be sent to your email address so please be sure to enter in a VALID email address. While your waiting for the key to arrive, install the program some place where you will be able to find it, preferably your desktop and if it asks "would you like to place this on the start menu" you can also say yes so that. Once you receive your key, open the program and put it in the "unlock key" area on the program.

You will also find a readme.txt in the folder you downloaded the program into. Your more than welcome to read through this for a quick start guide. Its all really easy to follow and pretty self explanatory but just so you understand everything I'm going to do a quick walk through.

1 Type your keywords here: You can type virtually ANY keyword here that you want. It can be something relevant to your site, or not. It doesn't really matter as long as you have some knowledge about the keyword you are picking.

2 Number of existing blog comments per post: Pick 5 to start out with. This will ONLY bring up blogs that have 5 comments or more. If you cant find any with 5 then you can choose 4 comments per blog.

3 Number of blogs to search: Use 100 as a default every time you do this.

4 You will see three buttons; Find Stop & Next. Press find to start searching for blogs.

5 Authors Name (your name), Authors email (your email), Web link (the site you want to promote). While the program is finding blogs you can go ahead and fill this info out. The "Fill Fields" button is for when you come to a blog/site, this button will automatically insert your name, email address and URL.

Blogs matching your request: Obviously this is the search results for the keyword(s) you selected. You can click any of those links *once* and in the pane below it will show a quick preview. If you decide you don't want to leave a comment, then don't worry about. Go onto the next link. Once your finished with all the links simply press the "next" button and it'll scan through all the blogs again and find you more results.

The "nofollow" option is a really great option to have on this program. Many blogs use the "nofollow" tag which prevents search engines from seeing your link in the comment. Obviously if your backlinking, the whole purpose is for people to see your links so you will get traffic. This program allows you to select yes or no options for the "nofollow" results. I have mine set on yes. ***Note: When finding blogs to backlink on please make a quality comment. It will make you look better as a commenter. And on top of that SPAMMING is not allowed in this program. Even if it was allowed who's to say the Author would even keep a SPAMMY comment as opposed to a quality comment? He/She probably wouldn't and then it would defeat the purpose of this project. ***End Note. If you take anywhere from 30 min to 1 hour out of your day to do this program you will see significant results almost immediately. I knew I was going to be writing this blog so just to make a honest statement I did 1 hours worth of backlinks this way, and received multiple comments and emails from the Authors and visitors of the blog with in minutes.

One last thing before I end this article. Here are a few MORE ways to use backlinks to your advantage:

* Submitting your link/site to directories

* Press Releases

* Signature links in forums

* Signature link in emails

* Write articles or reviews for people and include your website URL

* Link Exchanges

* Blogroll (wordpress)

* Comment virtually anywhere online that has a "your home page" option

Now, I am by no means a 'guru'. I like to think of myself as more of a 'reporter'. I hear what's going on, I research information and then I tell what I have learned. So, with that being said, I wanted to dive right in to this topic.

Marketing, as told by one of my mentors to me, is: "The art of inspiring and empowering others based on their wants, needs and desires, not your own." When I think of art, my mind visualizes beautiful sculptures, colorful canvases and breath-taking musical compositions. So when I visualize marketing as an art, I can almost see the transformation of lives.

Marketing is like a dance. You move in patterns, flowing with the music. In order to flow seamlessly, you must have a lead and then a partner. The lead guides their partner in a step-by-step sequence to achieve the essence of the music. It is almost romantic. Of course, Marketing is business-oriented, but there is a rhythm, a pattern, a sequence, to it.

When you begin Marketing for your business, you need to put the focus on other people first. As you focus on other people first, you begin to see what they need. You begin to hear what they are really saying. And, you begin to feel what their dreams mean to them. And, then the dance begins.

Now, take a moment and envision in your mind, a couple, dancing. Next time you watch Dancing With The Stars (for example), watch the way they dance together. Understand the hours of practice it took to get to the point that you are watching them, at that moment. Realize the mistakes that were made during countless rehearsals. Know that you will not always dance well right off the bat, but the more you Market, the better you become at it.

No one starts Marketing on Day One and can appear on Dancing With The Stars..NO ONE. I hope that you get what I am saying here. Sometimes, I see things in my mind and they don't always translate well in to words. :)

Now, let's move on to Advertising. The majority of us know advertising as commercials, advertisements, billboards, etc. An advertisement is a quick "LOOK HERE NOW" approach to relaying your message to others. I want to keep in alignment with the dancing here, so think of this: Have you ever watched a tap dance competition between two individuals? Tap-tap-tap-tip... goes the first person. Tap-tap-tap-tip-tip goes the second. It is more of a "here it is" type of action. That is what advertising is like.

Now, in order to balance out your marketing efforts, it is actually important to use both Marketing and Advertising for your business. Not everyone feels like doing the "Tango" at that moment you meet them. Perhaps they are more of the 'tap-tap' personality. When you use both methods, you reach a broader audience. You bring more people in to your Marketing Funnel.

What is a Marketing Funnel? Basically, a quick answer is, you bring lots of people to your website, and you market to them. Those that want to 'dance' will stay in the funnel longer. Those that do not, will move on. By having a Marketing Funnel, you are able to build a relationship with those people and get to know more about their wants,needs and desires. And, this usually leads to repeat 'sales' from customers as well. It can also lead to referrals and conversions (Tap-Dancers to Tango Partners).

So, anyway, I hope that I gave you a glimpse as to what the difference between Marketing and Advertising is, and how both are important to your online business. One thing I have been taught is to take one task at a time, get good at it and then move on to adding another. The same applies to advertising and marketing. Start with one method and work at it until you are comfortable enough to move on. This will benefit you in the long run, so there is no need to try to tap dance your way through the Tango. :)

Sadly though, more have failed in their internet business venture than otherwise. Here, my intention is to highlight some of the main reasons why they have failed and how you can overcome them and turn these obstacles into your driving forces to success.

The number one reason most people fail is because they do not have a strong "why" they want to start an online based home business and by that I mean the motivating factors. You must have very strong reasons to make money online. For example, "I want to quit my day job, spend more time with my family, purchase a new house or to earn enough to take one year off just to travel, etc."

This is very important as these will be the driving forces that spur you on in challenging times. You must always be focused on your "whys'", on your goals to give yourself that kick on the behind so to speak, to keep on keeping on. Most importantly they will give you that burning desire to succeed.

The other reason why people fail in their internet based home business is they do not have a specific direction in their website. Let me explain. I have visited many websites that are beautifully designed and professional looking. You know the ones' that make you yaw and say, "wow, this is awesome how they do those graphics." Well, that's all they do. It's great if you are doing a free service and don't intend to sell anything. But if you are looking to close sales or the sort, then you are not going to get any.

If you are looking to make money with your website, you must have sales pitch and easily identifiable order buttons or links for customers to buy from. Don't be shy to ask them to purchase your services or products, be it your own or affiliate merchandises. If your goal is to collect email addresses, then make your sign-up page visible, always put it at the top of the page. Offer free stuff for opting-in etc. The idea is to have a specific "what" you want your website do for you, to sell, to collect email addresses or both. Always make it easy for your visitors to buy or to do so.

Another reason why most fail in their home based business is the lack of perseverance. Faced with an obstacle and they give up. You must learn to see obstacles as lessons to improve. Whether it's on your business or yourself. Make a paradigm shift right now. Failure is really your guide to success. The secret to a successful internet business or to a successful life for that matter, is to always ask yourself what can you learn from every obstacle you face and improve on that.

4. Have faith in what you are doing. You take time to succeed in anything. So you must have faith and believe in what you are doing. You may not have any results in starting but if you keep doing, eventually you can generate a nice income from internet.

There are two major types of online auctions.

In Dutch auction, in the beginning the product's price is very high. Dutch auction is very suitable for perishable goods such as food and flowers. Decision of higher starting price is based on the recent history of sales of similar goods. In Dutch auction multiple identical items are kept in one auction which are sold to all winning bidders on same price. TFA or Tele Flower Auction is the example of online Dutch auction.
